Hello and welcome to the first blog post of Nic Hogg Photography!
I thought I would start these blog posts off with a little one about Stuart and I’s trip to Glen Etive.
We set off super early from our house and headed towards Glencoe as that’s where we had booked into a B&B for the night. We had booked into the Beechwood Cottage B&B for one night and if we are being honest we were both a little unsure about staying in a bed and breakfast as neither of us had really done that before.
On our way up we made a few stops including Rob Roy’s Grave but the main stop was Glen Etive. After a couple of hours driving we finally reached the turn off for Glen Etive. We had seen some photo’s on social media but really had no idea what to expect or if we would even see any of the Stags and Doe there as the weather wasn’t the greatest. We were maybe half way along the road and we seen the first couple of Stags by the side of the road. We were both in shock and disbelief.
This place is absolutely magical and neither of us had experienced anything like this before. We continued along as far as the road took us which ended up being a dead end (we had no clue it was a dead end) but reaching the end was so worth it as we discovered a really nice spot with incredible views.
After spending hours along the Glen Etive Road we headed up to Fort William and spent some time up there then we headed back to Glencoe to check in to Beechwood Cottage B&B. After being a little bit apprehensive about the whole bed and breakfast situation we checked in and instantly fell in love with the place. Jackie and Ian are absolutely incredible hosts and Beechwood Cottage is beautiful. Their attention to detail and the added extras almost puts you off going to another B&B because no other can top this place. We wished we had been able to stay more than one night but we will definitely be returning in Summer!
Glen Etive is somewhere I would highly recommend especially for nature lovers and photographers looking to shoot some amazing animals. Some of the images below are a few from our trip there. Hope you enjoy!
